Weather could help firefighters

(Firefighters getting the upper hand)….Cal Fire updated the Chariot Fire Thursday morning.

They said the fire near Sunrise Highway was 70 percent contained. Firefighters have stopped the movement of the fire at 7,055 acres. They say 60 residences are still threatened. 1,993 firefighters remain on scene. The fire has destroyed 120 structures, and there have been 7 minor injuries reported. Evacuation orders are expected to be lifted Thursday for Los Huecos area, but evacuations in other areas remain. The evacuation Center set up by the Red Cross in Alpine remains active. Parts of Sunrise Highway have been opened, though most of the Highway remains closed. The wet weather is expected to assist fire crews in their efforts to extinguish the brush fire.
