(Next week is Red Ribbon Week)….It is celebrated Nationwide every October.

The 2019 National Red Ribbon Campaign officially launched this month with First Lady Melania Trump at the annual Red Ribbon Rally. The Drug Enforcement Administration is asking that everyone Go Red during Red Ribbon week. The National Red Ribbon Campaign is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program. Red Ribbon Week started in Calexico following the death of DEA Special Agent Enrique Kiki Camarena, a native of Calexico. In 1985, Camarena was brutally tortured and murdered by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico. After his death, people began wearing Red Ribbons to honor his sacrifice. Today people continue to celebrate Red Ribbon week by wearing red ribbons, participating in community anti-drug events and pledging to live drug free lives.
