(Thunderstorms sweep through Imperial County)…There may be more to come.

The National Weather Service says there is a 30 percent chance of more storms into Thursday night. Wednesday clouds rolled in to the County in the afternoon, bringing thunderstorms from the Mexican Border to the Coachella Valley, and from Ocotillo to the Arizona Border. When it was over, almost a half inch of rain was recorded at the County Airport. There are reports of a vehicle being swept down a wash on Highway 78. Flooding caused the closure of Highway 78 and Ogilby Road. The Highway was reopened overnight. It is estimated that Ogilby will remain closed for the next 3 days. Flooding was also reported on Dogwood and McCabe Roads. A Palo Verde School District Bus got stuck on Highway 78 at Milpitas Wash. It was stopped between washes, with 23 students and several adults aboard the bus. They were not in any danger, but had to wait for help to arrive.
