(Renovated Cesar Chavez Boulevard in Calexico)…The plan was to use it as the main entrance to Mexicali, taking the traffic pressure off of Imperial Avenue and 2nd Street.
It has not turned out that way. Not yet, anyway. A public meeting on the plan was held recently in Calexico. It turns out the majority of the businesses along Imperial Avenue do not want the traffic diverted away from their businesses. They say that will cost them a lot of money. The City Council has postponed the re-routing plan, for now. The delay is to give the city more time to consider other options.
