 Border Patrol agents at the immigration checkpoint on Interstate 8 near Yuma seized almost 100 pounds of methamphetamine Friday afternoon.

An SUV at the checkpoint was referred to secondary inspection after a canine unit alerted to the vehicle. Agents discovered multiple packages of methamphetamine hidden in all four door panels and in a rear quarter panel of the SUV. The narcotics weighed 99.9 pounds and have a street value of nearly $230,000. The driver , a 42-year old lawfully admitted permanent resident from Mexico , was arrested for controlled substance violations.
