(Fatal injury collision)…It was reported at 3:30 Thursday afternoon.
Yuma County Sheriff’s Office says the initial report indicated a two vehicle collision on East County 19th Street and South Avenue 1E. Deputies report the initial investigation indicates a White 2014 Ford F-250 was traveling Eastbound on County 19th, approaching Avenue 1E. At the same time, a black 2003 Ford Ranger was northbound on Avenue 1E. The driver of the Ranger apparently failed to stop at the posted stop sign at County 19th Street, and proceeded into the path of the R-250. They say the front of the F-250 struck the driver’s side of the Ranger. The driver of the Ranger, 59 year old Joel Garcia of Yuma, sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced at the scene. The driver of the F-250 was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. They say alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the collision. The investigation is continuing.
