(Cal EPA appeal hearing)…The Public Hearing will be held July 17.

The hearing is to consider the Imperial County’s Certified Unified Program Agency application appeal. The hearing will be held in the County Board of Supervisors Chambers, beginning at 1:30 pm. The Certified Unified Program oversees regulatory issues related to hazardous wastes and underground storage tanks in businesses throughout Imperial County. Since 2005, the Department of Toxic Substances Control has been designated as the CUPA responsible for implementing regulatory oversight. On August 31, 2018 the Imperial County Fire Department submitted an application to Cal EPA to become the CUPA for the Imperial County Region. A Public Hearing on the application was held in El Centro in December 2018. In March of this year, Cal EPA issued a formal denial of the County application. The public is encouraged to attend the application appeal. A Spanish interpreter will be available.
