Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia and the California Energy Commission will present Oberon Fuels of Brawley with a $2.9 million check on Friday.

The check is a grant from the State for Oberon to upgrade it's Brawley pilot plant facility. Oberon is developing the pilot plant to produce the first renewable dimethyl ether ( rDME ) , a clean-burning , ultra-low-carbon transportation fuel , in the country. According to Garcia , the project is anticipated to create 12 full-time jobs and up to 30 indirect jobs , mainly in the Imperial Valley. 

The check presentation will be held on Friday morning in the Imperial County Administration Center in El Centro. Assemblymember Garcia , Commissioner Patty Monahan of the California Energy Commission , Elliot Hicks , Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Oberon Fuels and Imperial County Supervisor Michael Kelley will be among those participating.
