The County Board of Supervisors took the action Tuesday. While approving the Medal of Merit and resolution honoring Heavyweight Champion Andy Ruiz Jr, they were not presented to him. Ruiz was out of the County Tuesday. The Medal and Resolution were given to District 3 County Supervisor Mike Kelley. The Supervisor will present the award and resolution to Ruiz at the Rally in his honor Saturday. A Parade in the City of Imperial will be held Saturday leading to Imperial High School, where the rally will be held at the football field. Ruiz is a native of Imperial. He won the Heavyweight Championship June 1st in New York, becoming the first ever Heavyweight Champion of the World of Mexican descent. Ruiz has been extremely busy since winning the Championship belts. Appearing on National Television, and even visiting with the President of Mexico.
