(Be prepared)…It is going to get hot.

The National Weather Service has issued the first Excessive Heat Warning of the year. The Warning is for Imperial, Yuma and the Mexicali Valleys. The warning is in effect Tuesday and Wednesday. The National Weather Service says the desert communities will experience very hot temperatures well above normal and even approaching some records on Wednesday. They say this could lead to serious health impacts. Slightly cooler temperatures will return to the region Thursday, pushing heat risks to moderate and even low levels into the weekend. The elderly and others affected by extreme heat should contact the Public Health Department or check the IID website to see if the Cool Centers will be open Tuesday and Wednesday, before going out.
