(Memorial Day Weekend)…A holiday to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Ceremonies and services were held around the County over the 3 day weekend. Saturday the Brawley American Legion Post 60 held their annual walk from Westmorland to Brawley. All other events were held Memorial Day Monday. The City of Holtville and the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary held a ceremony in Holt Park, at the Memorial Monument. The Order of Elks Lodge 1325 in El Centro held their annual event in front of their Lodge, at the Flagpole on Main Street in El Centro. The Vietnam and Global Veteran’s of Foreign Wars 9305 hosted two services. The first at Evergreen cemetery followed by a service at the Veteran’s Memorial site in Bucklin Park. American Legion Post 60 held a ceremony at Memory Gardens Cemetery North of Imperial, off Highway 86. A ceremony was held at Riverview cemetery in Brawley, and Calexico’s Annual Ceremony was held at Mountain View Cemetery.
