A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday to reopen a historic building on the campus of San Diego State-IV Calexico.

The North Classroom Building was closed for a major renovation at the end of the spring 2018 semester. The building , constructed in 1916 , is one of the few original Calexico High School buildings that remain on the college campus. The building was damaged in the Easter Sunday earthquake in April ,2010 as well as the wear and tear of time. The building contains four classrooms and a large conference room. Cost of the repairs and renovation was about $1.4 million. The ribbon was cut by Nick Fenley , the great-great-grandson of Joseph Rodney , the first Dean of San Diego State University Imperial Valley.
