A 22-year old man was seriously injured Tuesday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol , Arce Rodriguez of Brawley was walking on the right shoulder of northbound Highway 86 just north of Brandt Road. It appears that a vehicle crossed over on to the shoulder of the road and struck Rodriguez. The driver then fled the scene of the accident. The hit & run vehicle is partially identified as a Volkswagen by a sideview mirror that was left at the scene. The Highway Patrol is asking anyone that might have any information about the accident contact the local CHP office. Rodriguez was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center by REACH Air Ambulance. Highway 86 was closed off for approximately 30 minutes to accommodate the helicopter evacuation.
