The El Centro Police Department has forwarded a report containing allegations involving El Centro Mayor Edgard Garcia to the Imperial County District Attorney's Office.
Garcia was cited for driving under the influence by an ECPD officer last week. On Monday , the case was referred to the California Attorney General in order to avoid a conflict of interest or even the appearance of a conflict according to Imperial County Assistant District Attorney Deborah Owen. Mr. Garcia ran against District Attorney Gilbert Otero in the last election.
