The El Centro Police Department has released more information about a drive-by shooting that occurred earlier this week.
The shooting occurred Tuesday afternoon , May 7, 2019 , in the area of the Department of Motor Vehicles at Imperial Avenue and Commercial Street in El Centro. No one was injured in the shooting but a car was damaged by the shots and nearby Lincoln Elementary School was in lockdown for a time. On Wednesday , May 8, 2019 ECPD detectives located and recovered the vehicle believed to have been used by the shooters. Investigators are currently in the process of identifying the suspect or suspects involved in firing a small caliber handgun at their intended victims. One of the occupants involved has been described as a heavyset Hispanic male and another as a Hispanic male in his 20's with a thin build. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous and any tips or information should be directed to the El Centro Police Department Investigations Division.
