(IID Board votes in favor of Easement agreement)…The Salton Sea Species Conservation Habitat project easement agreement was reached between the District and the state.

The decision will clear the way for important habitat restoration and dust suppression projects at the Salton Sea. The agreement offers state agencies access to lands that the district owns at the southern edge of the Salton Sea. The agreement will ease the way for habitat restoration and dust suppression projects, including a 3,700 acre species habitat plan to construct a series of large ponds between the southern edge of the lake and active farm fields. Environmental groups commended the IID and the state for finalizing the terms of an easement agreement.
