(24 year old suspected smuggler arrested)…It occurred earlier this week.

US Border Patrol agents made the arrest at the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint. The suspect drove a Grey Acura up to the checkpoint. Agents say a Border Patrol canine detection team alerted to the vehicle. It was sent to the secondary inspection area. The secondary inspection resulted in the discovery of several packages hidden inside natural voids of the vehicle. It was determined the packages contained methamphetamine, weighing a total of 6.73 pounds, with an estimated value of $16,100. The suspect, a US citizen, the meth and the vehicle were turned over to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Border Crime Suppression Team for further investigation.
