(Air Quality affected by strong winds)…A wind advisory is in effect throughout the County.

Those winds have increased the levels of PM 10, or dust in the air. The levels have increased to dangerous levels in some areas. By mid-morning Monday the Air Pollution Control District listed air quality in Westmorland as Very Unhealthy. Air Quality was listed as Hazardous in Brawley, and Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups in El Centro. Air Quality was moderate in Niland. With such high levels of PM 10, it is highly recommended that activity outdoors is limited and those suffering respiratory or heart disease remain indoors until the levels of particulate matter. The same recommendation for the elderly and young children. Winds are expected to die down Monday evening, but breezy conditions are expected to continue through Tuesday.
