(Early morning pursuit)…It began at just before 2:30 Thursday morning.
El Centro Police say an attempt was made to stop a blue Honda Civic that was speeding in the area of 8th and Wake Streets. The vehicle, driven by 21 year old Lorenzo Esquivel and another passenger, began to swerve in the roadway and ultimately led officers on a pursuit. Police chased the Honda to a residence in the 400 block of Driftwood. A high risk stop was conducted on the vehicle and officers were able to safely detain both the driver and passenger. Officers searched the vehicle and discovered a significant amount of cannabis, THS vape cartridges, Xanax bars, fake Oxycontin or Fentanyl pills and other indicating factors associated with the transport and sales of controlled substances. Esquivel was later transported and booked into County Jail for charges related to sakes and transportation of controlled substances and leading officers on a pursuit
