(Distracted Driving Awareness Month)…It is celebrated nationwide in April.

In an effort to remind the public of the dangers of inattentive driving, the California Highway Patrol is teaming with its traffic safety partners throughout the state and the nation. The CHP, the Office of Traffic Safety, and Impact Teen Drivers are encouraging the motoring public to silence the distractions and just drive. Today and again on April 18, the CHP will be conducting statewide enforcement efforts to discourage distracted driving. CHP Commissioner Warren Stanley says through a combination of high visibility enforcement efforts, a focused education campaign and cooperation from the motoring public, preliminary data shows the number of inattentive drivers involved in crashes is on the decline.
