(Brush Fire near Yuma)….It was reported at 4:30 Thursday afternoon.

Yuma Fire said smoke was reported in the East Wetlands area. Fire crews arrived and found heavy smoke rising from the brush about a half mile southeast of the Territorial Prison. The crews called in the Fire Department Utility Terrain Vehicle, outfitted to be used in wildland areas. The vehicle transported firefighters to the fire scene. The fire was burning in an area of grass and piles of brush. The crews were able to contain the blaze after about 3 hours using shovels and other hand tools. The fire was contained to around 3 acres.
