El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents say at 5:40 Thursday morning a 30 year old US Citizen driving a Mercury Mountaineer entered the Highway 86 checkpoint. A Border Patrol canine team alerted to the vehicle, and it was sent to the secondary inspection area. During the inspection packages were discovered in the vehicle’s gas tank. Agents determined the packages contained methamphetamine, weighing 48.4 pounds, with an estimated value of $125,840. The driver, the vehicle and the narcotics were all turned over to the Imperial County Narcotics Task Force.
