(5 Injured in single vehicle collision)…The vehicle was being pursued by Border Patrol agents.

The collision occurred Tuesday night near Boulevard. Border Patrol agents attempted to conduct an enforcement stop on a blue Mazda MPV near Old Highway 80 and McCain Valley Road. The Agents suspected immigration related violations. The driver of the Mazda did not stop, and fled away, with the Border Patrol agents in pursuit. The chase went down Shasta Way just south of Highway 94, where the driver lost control of the vehicle while going over a dip. The vehicle crashed into a steel fence and utility pole before overturning. The driver, a 23 year old woman from San Diego was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was in custody of the Border Patrol. Four men who said they were from Mexico were lying in the backseat, not wearing seatbelts. Two of the men, a 25 and 27 year old, were taken to a hospital. There is no information on their injuries. The other two, ages 24 and 39, declined medical aid and were taken into custody by the Border Patrol. The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation. Alcohol or drugs are not suspected factors in the incident.
