(Motorists beware)…You do not want to drink and drive this weekend.

There will be two DUI/Drivers License Checkpoints. The California Highway Patrol will set up a checkpoint Friday night, somewhere within Imperial County. The second checkpoint will be set-up by the El Centro Police Department on Saturday. They say the checkpoints will be placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests. Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and or drug impairment, as well as checking drivers for proper licensing. The checkpoints are paid for through grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
