(Medical Emergency may have cause fatal collision)….The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
The incident was reported early Monday afternoon. The CHP says 44 year old Florence Graham of Missouri was driving a Freightliner truck tractor and trailer westbound on Highway 78, just east of Hovely Road. It is believed the driver may have suffered a medical emergency while driving. The Highway Patrol believes the emergency rendered the driver unconscious and unable to control the vehicle. The rig drifted onto the south shoulder, through a perimeter fence and continued down an embankment where it came to rest on its wheels. A local resident witnessed the incident and called 911. EMS personnel arrived and pronounced the driver dead at the scene. The CHP is still investigating the circumstances of the collision.
