(The good and bad of the BLM Business Plan)…..The Bureau of Land Management recently released the plan.
It covers the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area. First the bad. The plan increases permit fees for use of the Area. The good news is that it provides more room to play in. The Plan opens up about 40,000 acres of previously closed off land. The US Fish and Wildlife Service conducted new species and habitat inventories. That, combined with scientific data, they have determined Pierson’s milk vetch no longer needs protection. The BLM says the former protected area will remain closed to the public until the new Plan is implemented, which will be in about 90 days.
