(Calexico City Council to fill their vacancy)…The Council agreed this week to avoid a special election.

The Vacancy was created after Jesus Eduardo Escobar resigned his City Council seat after being elected to the County Board of Supervisors. This week the Calexico City Council agreed to avoid an expensive special election and instead appoint someone to the City Council for the remainder of Escobar’s term, which ends in December 2020. Applications will be accepted through January 21st. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, reside within the city limits and be a registered voter. An appointment is expected in early February.
