(65 pounds of meth seized)…It happened at the Calexico East Port of Entry.

A Customs and Border Protection Officer was conducting primary inspections when the officer encountered a 47 year old male Mexican citizen and legal permanent resident of the US. He was driving a Honda Ridgeline. The officer referred the vehicle and the driver for a more in-depth examination. Officers used the port’s imaging system and a canine team to search the vehicle. They discovered 33 wrapped packages of methamphetamine inside the quarter panels and rocker panels. The packages weighed 65 pounds and had a street value estimated at $225,750. The driver, a resident of El Centro, was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigation agents for further processing. The man was then taken to Imperial County Jail to await arraignment for suspicion of narcotic smuggling. The CBP seized the vehicle and methamphetamine.
