(Sand Drags prove fatal)…Multiple injuries also reported.

The event was held in Glamis over the Thanksgiving weekend. The California Highway Patrol says 29 year old Andrew Solis of Lynwood, California, was driving his 1995 Toyota Tacoma in the open desert of the Imperial Sand Dunes area of the Sand Drags. Solis reportedly lost control of his vehicle and it traveled into a crowd of people watching the races. The vehicle struck 7 adults, killing 57 year old Pamela L. Kittrello of Mesa, Arizona. The others injured included a 15 year old male from Arizona, 26 year old Cassidy Holtfreter, 30 year old Andrew Gerardy, 36 year old Nicole Richardson, 36 year old Chad Richardson, 59 year old Roger Kittrell and 29 year old Douglas Kittrell, all from Arizona. All were taken to a hospital for treatment. The incident remains under investigation.
