(San Ysidro Port closed for several hours)…It started as a peaceful March.

Sunday morning about 500 caravan participants marched to the Port seeking to appeal US officials to speed up the Asylum application process. Once they arrived at the port, several in the group became rowdy and attempted to find a place to jump the International border fence. Border Patrol agents and military troops lined up along the Border, and fired tear-gas at those who scaled the fence. In the meantime, Customs and Border Protection shut the Border Crossing to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. After several hours, the situation calmed down and officials reopened the Border Crossing Sunday night. No injuries were reported, though many complained about the use of Tear-gas.
