U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a smuggler at the Highway 86 Checkpoint and seized 6.7 pounds of methamphetamine.
A Border Patrol canine team alerted to a pickup truck at the checkpoint at about noon Thursday. The truck was referred to secondary inspection where agents discovered the methamphetamine hidden in a non-factory compartment under the rear seat. The drugs have an estimated street value of over $214,000. The driver , a 42-year old man , a U.S. citizen , was taken into custody and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
