A Mexicali man has been arrested in connection with the theft of property from several local harvesting companies.
The thefts were reported in May of this year in the area of Keystone and McConnell roads. The prporty taken was mainly batteries and starters from agricultural equipment belonging to the harvesting companies. The equipment was valued at approximately $6,000. Imperial County Sheriff's investigators were able to obtain evidence and information that led them to a suspect , 33-year old Marco Andres Guitierrez-Perez. An arrest warrant was obtained for Guitierrez-Perez and he was arrested at the San Luis port of entry with the assistance of Customs and Border Protection officers. Guitierrez-Perez is currently being held in the Yuma County Jail with bail set at $25,000. He is awaiting extradition to Imperial County.
