A single vehicle accident early Tuesday morning resulted in major injuries to one person.
The accident was reported at 5:25 a.m. on State Route 86 near Salton City. The California Highway Patrol and Imperial County Fire Department responded to the accident scene. The southbound lanes of Highway 86 were closed for about an hour as emergency personnel were on the scene. The highway was closed for approximately an hour. One person sustained an apparent broken neck and other injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
