El Centro Firefighters responded to a fire in a Ross Avenue business Saturday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 4:22 p.m. Saturday when 911 dispatch received a call about smoke coming from a business in the 100 block of East Ross Avenue. The first ECFD unit was on the scene within 3 minutes and observed smoke coming from the roof and roll-up doors., A second alarm was issued requesting an additional truck company and Battalion Chief from the City of Imperial and Imperial County Fire.

Firefighters made entry to the building and conducted a search of the business and quickly extinguished the flames. Fire crews checked adjacent buildings and determined the fire was contained to the original structure. Minimal smoke and water damage was reported at the adjacent businesses. No injuries were reported.

A total of two engine companies , two Rescue Squads , one truck company , two Battalion Chiefs responded with 17 firefighters involved in battling the blaze. ECFD investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
