. Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District, an affiliate of the Scripps Health Network, will unveil its 3D mammography machine between 11:00 am and noon at Pioneers Memorial Hospital. Pioneers is the first and only healthcare provider in the desert region to offer 3D exams in order to meet the increasing demand for early detection of breast cancer in the Imperial Valley. Researchers have found the 3D exam finds 20 to 65 percent more invasive breast cancers compared to 2D alone. Additionally, the exam requires no additional compression and takes just a few seconds longer than a conventional 2D breast cancer screening exam.
