U.S. Border Patrol agents found a man who was left behind by human smugglers when he came ill.
Border Patrol Search Trauma and Rescue ( BORSTAR ) agents conducted an intensive search Friday after learning that an illegal alien had been left behind by smugglers. Agents located the unresponsive man who was in need of immediate medical attention. Agents and medical professionals rendered care but the man succumbed to the elements. According to the National Weather Service , temperatures in the Imperial Valley reached 109 degrees on Friday. The Imperial County Coroner's Office is investigating the death.
