(Two in custody)…They are charged with attempting to smuggle narcotics.
Border Patrol agents arrested the man and woman at the Highway 86 checkpoint. Officials say the 23-year-old woman was driving a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser. At the checkpoint, a canine team alerted to the vehicle. It was sent to the secondary inspection area. Several sealed packages were found hidden in the floorboard on both the driver’s side and passenger side of the vehicle. The packages contained 40 pounds of methamphetamine, valued at an estimated $133,122. The driver and a male passenger were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration, along with the vehicle and narcotics.
