(Freedom Fest 2018)…It is coming Wednesday July 4th.

This will be the 28th year Freedom Fest is held celebrating the countries independence.  For the second year, the Imperial Valley Desert Museum will have a booth at the campus of Imperial Valley College. Marcie Landeros, Education Coordinator for the Museum, says this year they will feature Running Coiled Clay. Coiled Clay is the method Pottery has been made in Imperial County for the last thousand years. The booth will be interactive, with staff on hand to show how the pottery was made and assist participants in making Coiled Clay Pottery. Freedom Fest is once again being joined by the Imperial Chamber of Commerce and Imperial Valley College in putting I on the event. Freedom Fest has become the largest single day event in Imperial County with an estimated 50,000 in attendance each year. Gates open on the IVC Campus at 6:00. The largest free fireworks display synchronized to music on FM 107.5 begins at around 9:00 pm on July 4th.
