(Unemployment increases for March)….The numbers were released recently.
The jobless rate for March was reported at 21.4 percent. That is up slightly from the revised 20.9 percent recorded in February. The increase, however is below the year ago estimate of 23.3 percent. The unemployment numbers were released by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. The March jobless rate of 21.4 percent compares with unadjusted unemployment rate of 8.4 percent for the state and 6.8 percent for the nation during the same period.
