Funds from Senate Bill 1 ( SB1 ) have been earmarked for several projects in Imperial County.

SB1 dollars will be used on pavement improvement projects on State Route 86 and State Route 111 and to improve State Route 98. Caltrans crews have already started work on a $3.4 million project to make the pavement better on SR-111 from SR-98 to Ross Road. More work is underway on SR-98 from Rockwood Avenue to east of Cole Road.

Last week the California Transportation Commission awarded $82 million for other projects in the border region to include $11.9 million for Advanced Technology Corridors at border ports of entry , $3.3 million for improvements on State Route 98 and $3 million for the Calexico East Port of Entry truck crossing.

Senate Bill 1 was passed by the California Legislature and increases the gas tax to fund transportation projects. $54 Billion is expected to be raised over the next decade , if voters don't overturn the legislation.
