National Beef faces a fine

(Complaint against National Beef Could cost them $3.7 million)…The Administrative Civil Liability Complaint was filed by the Colorado River Basin Regional Water Quality Control Board.

The Complaint accuses National Beef of California of introducing polluted water into the Brawley Publicly owned Treatment works. A hearing has been tentatively scheduled for June 19 in Yucca Valley. National Beef can pay the $3.7 million proposed liability or they could waive their right to have the hearing within 90 days. National Beef is closing their Brawley plant in May, laying off at least 1,300 employees at the plant.
