The California Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that occurred Friday morning.
The accident was reported at 10:30 a.m. Friday on Interstate 8 west of Dunaway Road. An SUV towing a trailer apparently went out of control and rolled down an embankment resulting in a large amount of debris being strewn along the highway. One eastbound lane was closed and both westbound lanes were shutdown for approximately two hours. Initial reports are that several people were injured and that there was also a fatality among the victims. The accident remains under investigation.
