(Police Week in Calexico)…It starts Monday
. The week is designated to honor and recognize Police efforts in the Border City. It comes at a time when the City Council is trying to decide if they want to keep the police department open, or contract police services with the County. The special week will also include National Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15th. The Original National Peace Officers Memorial Day was signed into law in 1961 by then President John F. Kennedy.
