(Next week is National Correctional Officers and Employees Week)…Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors adopted the local Proclamation.

The special week was originally adopted Nationally in 1984. President Ronald Reagan signed the proclamation. This year the United States Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Prisons have designated May 7th through May 11th as National Correctional Officers and Employees Week. The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office will honor the men and women who work within the Corrections Division May 7th at 9:00 am at the Sheriff’s Office with a special ceremony. The ceremony will include the Posting of colors, Pledge of Allegiance, Invocation, Welcoming remarks from Sheriff Ray Loera and Public Defender Ben Solorio as a guest speaker. During the week Correctional Officers and staff will have a variety of functions in their honor, including a closing ceremony on Friday May 11th.
