(National Beef changes closure date)…They had said their Brawley facility would close April 4th.
The Kansas City based beef processors are now saying the Brawley plant will remain open until May 23rd. District 4 County Supervisor Ryan Kelley says that announcement is not a surprise. He said the extension was anticipated. He commented at the Board of Supervisors meeting. Kelley said the extra 45 days is a positive action. He said it allows local officials more time to locate a new occupant for the Brawley facility. He said could minimize the number of jobs lost as a result of the National Beef decision.
