(Sobriety Checkpoint)….It will be set-up this weekend.
The California Highway Patrol says they will conduct a Sobriety/Drivers License Checkpoint Saturday night. They will not say where. Only that it will be somewhere in the unincorporated area of the Imperial County. The goal is to ensure the safe passage of each and every motorist by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of intoxicated or unlicensed drivers. The CHP says a checkpoint is a proven effective tool for achieving this goal and is designed to augment existing patrol operations. Traffic volume permitting, all vehicles will be checked for drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs or driving unlicensed. The checkpoint will be in operation from 8:00 pm Saturday until 2:00 am Sunday.
