(Border Patrol arrests two gang members)…Both are considered dangerous.
The arrests were made by agents assigned to the El Centro Sector office. One arrest was made Saturday. The other was on Sunday. The first arrest was made nine miles west the of Downtown Calexico Port. Agents observed 41 year old Jeronimo Duque Moreno illegally enter the US from Mexico. He was arrested without incident. Moreno was taken to the El Centro station, where it was revealed he was an aggravated felon previously removed from the United States. It was also discovered Moreno was an active member of the 18th Street criminal street gang out of Los Angeles. The second incident occurred at 11:30 Sunday morning. Border Patrol agents detained a group of 7 undocumented immigrants near Highway 98 and Mount Signal Road. Record checks revealed one of the males, Israel Meza Zepeda, a 39 year old Mexican National, had been previously been ordered removed by an Immigration Judge last year. It also revealed Meza was an active Sureno gang member with an outstanding warrant for homicide out of Whittier. Meza had already served 11 years in prison for an attempted murder. After prosecution on the immigration violation, Meza will be turned over to the proper authorities to face his warrant.
