(Controlled burn gets out of control)…Cal Fire had planned to burn 114 acres Thursday.
An unexpected shift in the wind changed their plans. The controlled burn jumped the fire lines on San Felipe Road and Highway 78, near Borrego Springs. By Thursday night the fire had burned 1,500 acres. At last report officials said the fire was 30% contained. No structures have been threatened and there have been no injuries. Officials say near-by roads have been closed. Cal Fire has 4 air tankers and three helicopters battling the blaze, as well as on-ground fire crews.
