(Five injured in single vehicle roll-over)…It occurred Wednesday at just before mid-night.
The California Highway Patrol says a 17-year-old Teen from Calipatria was driving the vehicle, with 4 passengers. According to the CHP report, the vehicle was traveling north on Kalin Road at a high rate of speed. The driver was reportedly under the influence of alcohol. The Highway Patrol says due to both, the driver ran off the roadway north of Linsey Road. He lost control and the vehicle overturned several times. The vehicle came to rest in a field, where it caught fire. Due to the fact the passengers sustained injuries, the driver was charged arrested and charged with felony DUI causing injury. He was released to receive medical treatment. The driver suffered major injuries. Two other 17 year olds suffered moderate injuries. 18-year-old Freddy Ramirez suffered major injuries and was transported to Desert Regional in Palm Springs. 22-year-old Juan Rubacalba also suffered major injuries and was transported to Pioneers Memorial Hospital. The driver was also taken to Desert Regional. All occupants in the vehicle were from Calipatria.
