(The June 5th Primary Election)…The process is almost over.

The ballots have been counted and the Final Report released. The County Elections Department released the Official Final Report late Monday afternoon. The ballots will now be canvassed and submitted to the Secretary of State’s office before July 6. That process will certify the local election results. According to the Final Report, 19,400 registered voters cast ballots out of a total of 68,108 registered voters in Imperial County. Voter turnout was 28.48 percent. None of the races changed in the final report. Increased numbers, however made some races closer. Some will be continued until the November elections. In the November runoffs will be Monica Lepe Negrete and Tom Story in the race for Superior Court, Seat 3. Supervisor District one will also feature a runoff between John Renison and Jesus Eduardo Escobar. One of the closest races, IID Director Division 3, James Hanks was re-elected picking up 50.44 percent of the vote. Raul Navarro pickrd up 49.29 percent. IID Director Division 5 will also feature a runoff between Norma Sierra Galindo and Carlos Zaragoza.
